The Connections company offers The Ohio State University ALP students the opportunity of a Homestay while they study in the program. A Homestay is for students who prefer the warmth and enjoyment of family life over dormitory or apartment living. It is also an excellent way to learn the English language and understand American culture. Students live with a Host Family, carefully screened and selected for mutual compatibility, practicality and safety. Friendships often develop as students and Host Family members live and learn together.

Along with the family feeling of a Homestay, students receive breakfast and dinner daily. Students have their own bedroom and study area. Airport transfers to your Host Family’s home are provided on your arrival and included in the first month price. Transportation to school can be arranged many ways including walking, buses, bicycles and rides with others. Host Families come in all forms, sizes, races, and nationalities. They may be a single-parent household, a retired couple, a family with many children, or none. Though we try to accommodate student preferences, we do not honor requests for specific types of families.

Our local Area Coordinator will assist you in your Homestay experience. Homestay costs are equivalent to food and lodging in apartments, plus includes telephone and other conveniences found only in a home environment with a family. Homestays are usually special experiences, making good friends and memories for everyone involved.
